Friday-November 28

We did not have class this week so I can't write the usual Friday blog summarizing class. So I am just going to talk about my break. Yesterday was thanksgiving and we went to my aunts house where she hosted dinner. After we ate and watched a few movies, my mom and I went to the mall in Flint to go Black Friday shopping. On our way there we stopped at Walmart in Fenton, MI and bought a 50" TV for my brother for Christmas.. it was only $218! After that I got a bunch of clothes from the mall and got great deals. We got home around 11:00 and then I watched movies with my family until I went to sleep around 3:00 in the morning. I got up around 9:00 this morning to go to the mall again and get some more clothes and stuff and then came home and now I'm writing my weekly blog. I hope you guys are all having a wonderful holiday and a nice and relaxing break from school.

Tuesday-November 18

Today is a great day. I woke up to a text saying that we had a snow day and needless to say, I was so happy. I really doubted that we would have a snow day today because I thought that college students never got snow days. I guess when you get like 6 inches of snow plus another 2-6 more inches throughout the day, you get a snow day. I could not be more excited to relax all day today. I really am not feeling well and have not been so it will be nice to not have to worry about missing anything in my classes. I hope everyone enjoys their snow days! Build a snowman :)

Tuesday-Novemeber 11

So within the past few days I have crammed for my art history exam that was at 11 this morning. I woke up late and rushed straight to class and made it on time, which is  miracle. However, my teacher informed us all that she pushed the exam back to Thursday instead of today because E-Learning screwed up some students quizzes and so she thinks that it is not fair to take the exam when they could not take the quizzes to prepare for this exam. So needless to say I was annoyed that it was not this morning but I was also thankful because that means I can study more and hopefully pass.

Tuesday-October 21

I am currently waiting for the Halloween episode of Pretty Little Liars to come on at 9. Me and my best friend (my roommate) are watching it together and bonding. I didn't go in blind because my best friend was coming to Western too so we just roomed together. We are both art majors and want to be graphic design majors. We have the same art classes and whatnot so it is nice being able to work together and draw together. It is actually super nice to live with my best friend. I thought i would definitely get sick of her and she would annoy me eventually but that hasn't happened... knock on wood. But we are so comfortable with each other and we are literally like the same person so it is super easy to get along and stuff.

Friday-October 17

This week we only had class once. On Monday when we had class, we talked about revising our papers that we have written and we got our first paper somewhat revised. Then on Wednesday I walked to class only to find out that it was cancelled with only a half an hour notice. I was mad because I had just walked from the valleys for class and sat down in my seat and read my email saying that it was cancelled. I feel like we should know further in advance if you don't feel well a few hours prior to class then cancel it then, not a half an hour before it is supposed to start. Anyways, I don't have any questions or anything.

Thursday-October 16

So as I am sitting on the train on my way back home, I figured I would write a quick little extra credit blog post. I am going home today until Sunday and I am currently on a train for the first time. It is a super nice train with Wifi and a outlet to charge my phone and computer. However, I was supposed to board my train at 7:12 but it was delayed until 8:30 so that sucked. Then I got on the train and watched Netflix until I was just informed that the train has stopped moving due to traffic? I'm not sure but now it'll be even longer until I am home so that's nice. It is safe to say that this has been an eventful train experience. I hope you all have a great weekend! :)

Tuesday-October 14

So today is October 14th, also it is the day that I can sign up for my spring classes. I am currently mad because the one class I was super pumped to take was Meditation to Enhance Living and I went to register for that class only to find out that it is not available to Freshman and Sophomores. After I found that out I went t sign up for Mindfulness to Enhance Living and that was also unavailable to Freshman and Sophomores. I ended up e-mailing the meditation professor asking him if I could be in the class if there was room. It makes me mad that they limit people to signing up for classes because they aren't upperclassmen but hopefully I'll be able to get into Meditation to Enhance Living because that would be a bomb class.

Friday-October 10

We only met for class on Monday. On monday we discussed what would be our homework for the weekend and we were shown examples. We have a paper due today. I wrote it on the story "Virgins" i had the hardest time ever coming up with something to write about I really did not even understand what we were supposed to write the paper on. Anyways on Monday we have an annotated bib due and I have never done one before so that should be interesting. I am confused about what it is to be honest so I'm just going to follow the example closely. I really loved not having class on Wednesday... that should be a regular thing :)

Tuesday-October 7

As I'm sitting in the lounge area at the RCVA I remembered that I had to write this blog post. So, today is obviously Tuesday October 7 and its a beautiful day out. It's 54 degrees and it's very nice. I was reading weird conspiracy theories because I love reading about them and I find them super interesting, and I came across the craziest one. There is this conspiracy theory that Jay Z is like the head of the illuminati and Beyonce is also part of it. They had a child named Blue Ivy Carter (weird, I know) and people think that the name is reworking the name "Eulb Yvi" which means "daughter of satan" in latin so remember when Whitney Houston died? Apparently, she was a sacrifice for Beyonce's child so that the baby could live. It sounds super mixed up but is that not the weirdest thing you have ever heard? I read a lot of random conspiracies and this is by far the strangest I have come across.

Friday-October 3

In class this week, we turned in our paper and then did song analysis on various songs and looked at their meanings. I personally don't like to write this many papers. As soon as we have one due we have another one due within a week, I am a very awful writer so I'm not huge on papers. However, I think analyzing songs are interesting and so this paper will be better than the others. I do not have any questions about what happened in class this week. I thought class went well overall. I hope whoever reads this, has a great weekend!

Tuesday-September 30

I am currently an art major and I'll be applying to get into the graphic design program for next year, in February. I'm super nervous that I won’t make it and then my degree would be a 5 year degree which would cost more money and cause other problems. Anyways, I’m mostly in art classes and I have only been in class for a month and I already am learning so much. I feel like my skills are improving so much and just this last week I have learned a bunch about colors and how different colors can affect you psychologically and make you want to buy something or even make you want to eat something. It’s amazing what I’m already learning. I just hope that I can keep improving enough to get into my graphic design program, considering usually 100 apply and only 20 get in; it’s very competitive. I am hoping to learn and take in as much as I can before I apply. 

Tuesday- September 23

Last week I was assigned a paper about what has impacted my life the most; I wrote about me becoming a vegetarian. I have recently researched more stuff about animal cruelty and how slaughterhouses treat animals unethically and I am truly disgusted. It really sickens me that people can treat a poor animal with no respect and be so cruel to them. For example, chickens are tied by their ankles and hung upside down, then they are put in water that electrocutes them, and lastly they have their throat slit and put into boiling water. However, it’s quite common that the knife misses the chicken and therefore the chickens are put into the boiling water while they are still alive. It so sad to me that theses poor creatures are treated this way. Animals can feel the same way as humans can and how would you like it if you were treated like this? I one day would love to be an advocate for these animals since they can’t stand up for themselves.

Stuart Dybek

I just got back from Stuart Dybek's reading and to be honest here, I was so bored. He read some of his stories from his new novel Paper Lantern and it was awful. His reading almost put me to sleep because he read in such a monotone voice and it wasn't a very  interesting. I was hoping he would talk to us about how he got to where he is and how he became successful and whatnot, but all he did was just read a few of his stories to us. Some of them were very sexual and I felt very odd and uncomfortable because most of the audience was like 70 years old and then here I was and it was just weird. Apparently he writes very dirty and sexual stories from what I have heard tonight. Although it was boring, I had nothing better to do so my friend and I went.

Friday- September 19

This week in class we discussed the stories that we were assigned to read. We only had one class this week because our professor had a family emergency and cancelled class.  Anyways, we discussed two stories we read and then we were assigned a paper to write about something or someone that has impacted your life. I really hate writing papers and having a due date that is so close to the day it was assigned. I can’t think about what to write for this paper that is due in three days so I’m kind of stressing out about that. I wish we had like a week at least to write it so I could have more time to think of what to write about.

Tuesday- September 16

I am late to post this again, but that is okay. So I have six drawings to complete by Monday and I am very behind and kind of stressing. These drawings will take a minimum of 3 hours to complete and I have not started yet. I also have a lot of other homework so that's nice. I am pretty awful at managing my time well because lets be real here, all I really want to do is watch Netflix. I am currently watching this show called Scandal and whoever reads this should watch it because it’s great. Well anyways that’s about all I have to say. Have a fantastic day.

Friday- September 12

Even though it is now Saturday, I am going to make like it is still Friday so I can write my blog post since I had a very busy day Friday. During this week in English 1050, we made a class blog, which I am on at the moment. I thought class was okay this week. It was boring though because I hate reading stories and poems and I hate writing even more, which I have done both for class this week. I think this class will hopefully allow me to not hate reading and writing so much since it is very important in the real world. I currently don’t have any questions about anything I learned this week.
